| The Duggar Family ?? Okay, ...18 kids....okay, oldest son gets married having never even kissed his fiance'....okay, they live very conservative, religious lives and seem to be extraordinarily happy with their large family. However....I have a couple of questions. They allow the children little to no television and yet they allow the TV cameras to follow them everywhere they go? They seem to have done well for themselves with their real estate etc., no credit cards and the like....and I'm all for being frugal (and with that many kids you would HAVE to be) BUT, surely they are being paid for this TV show and surely they have enough money to buy those kids a new pair of shoes every once in a while. They buy all their clothes at thrift and second hand stores and I saw one episode where they were going shoe shopping....it broke my heart. One little boy wanted a new pair of cowboy boots (one of his sister's had tried to mend the pair he had with duct tape and black magic marker...pitiful!). I KNOW these folks have enough money to spring for decent shoes for these kids....especially the little ones. It is so important that you have good shoes when you are young...otherwise you can screw up your feet for the rest of your life. Does anyone think that this woman will get a clue now that she is well into her 40's....has a married son who will no doubt begin to reproduce in the same manner and with the same frequency as his parents (thus making her a grandmother) and stop having children? Do you think that maybe it's become such a media sensation that perhaps she's continuing to have these kids for the media attention? Or do you think this couple truly wants all the children God will give them? Exactly WHAT denomination of Christianity do they follow? They seem to dress in the same manner as some friends of mine who are Pentecostal, but I've never heard them ever say anything except that they are "Fundamentalists" and they've never mentioned attending any particular church. |
