Saving the Earth and my wallet

Thank author of this post/commentHave you ever noticed that most of the frugal things we do are good for the environment?I was thinking about it today as I scraped my veggie cuttings into my kitchen composter. There are many frugal habits that I have acquired in an effort to reduce my expenses. When I go onto the Mother Earth News website, many of those habits are touted as ?environmentally friendly? as well. Here are a few examples:*Hanging my laundry instead of using the dryer (in the summer in the winter I recycle the dryer heat into my home)*Composting instead of throwing organic matter into the garbage (where I live you pay extra for more than 2 bags of garbage)*Rabidly recycling (again, here you pay for garbage but not for recycling)*Mending and repairing things instead of replacing them (not filling our landfills)*Cooking from scratch instead of using things with lots of packaging*Limiting gifts on holidays and birthdays to just a few well-chosen and needed items*Staying home often instead of going places in the car* Switching to compact fluorescent bulb (I noticed an immediate drop in my electric bill)In fact the only frugal things I can think of that are not great for the environment are using old appliances until they die. If you can afford to replace them, you will notice an immediate improvement on your power bills though. The same with cars if you can swing a newer, more effiecient vehicle with lower emissions it is well worth the expense. If you can?t make the decision to be Earth friendly just for the sake of the Earth, do it for the sake of your wallet!
