| Yahoo! Answers: Work part time and live poorly or work full time? Before having the baby I worked 40hrs a week. I have the opportunity now to work part time. However that means cutting back on all the luxuries in life....meals out, shopping on a whim, cable with dvr/hd, etc. We would be living essential what I refer to as dirt poor. Cheaper meals, frugal spending, no nice trips. Which I can accept. I would much rather spend time with Ginny than anything else in the world. If it means that I have to eat hot dogs, mac n cheese PB and J I am fine with that. There would be enough to cover all the bills including grocery's and diapers as well as a little extra. Frank has opposite feelings. He said he always wanted more for his child than what he had. Which I would also like for my daughter. What kind of person doesn't want what is best for their child? He doesn't want to give up the meals out, the dvr/hd, occasional nice trip. which in a perfect world I'd love all that and more. But in my opinion I don't want my child growing up addicted to tv. I want her to have an imagination, be physically active....which is all free. I want her to play in the park. Go swimming in the lake or local pool which is free/cheap. I want quality time with her not tv time. I come from a middle class family and I had everything I needed growing up and a very few things I wanted which I am completely ok with. I would hope that I can raise my daughter the same way to value friendship and family more than money. and to realize that you don't need a lot of money to have fun. Am I crazy for feeling this way? |
| "Quality Time Need Not To Be Expensive "
I admire you for feeling and thinking that way Randall. You see, our kids needs quality time with us and yes, not tv time or dvd time. That is true, you can encourage them to go out and play instead of confining them inside the house playing video games and watching tv all day long. I just wish that I can do that too. I am a busy mom with so many things to do. |
