| Question for people raised in frugal, and practical household, re....? ...your adult children. Do they want the "best" of...... everything, and can't wait to get it? My husband and I were both raised by "depression era" parents. We have always had an decent home, acceptable furnishings, and a bank account. We have 4 adult children, and only 1 of them seems to take after us. The rest of them are in credit card debt up to their ears because they have to have that hot-tub today, the Mexican vacation, the latest electronic toy, and the big screen T.V., and basically anything else their heart desires - and they have to have it NOW!! My husband and I always saved, and waited till we could afford to buy something. We did as much as we could ourselves before we ever hired anyone to do it. He put in the patio, we refinished the woodwork in our home, did the painting and any repairing we could do. We cut down hedges 13 feet high, releveled the lawn, bought bushes and planted them ourselves. They just hire a landscaper. They have nothing put aside for a "rainy day". Anyone know what I'm talking about? |
