Frugal Cooking

Thank author of this post/comment
I love to save money! I also love to learn better ways of saving money when it comes to planning meals for my family. I found a great article of ways to be more frugal when it comes to preparing meals. Jess wrote an article back in August (SAVE MONEY: Food and Cooking) and I just now found it and loved each and every tip she gave. I suggest those mommas who love to be frugal check it out.

One thing that I have learned that has saved us money is making my own pancake mix and muffin mix. I usually have lots of flour, sugar, baking soda and baking powder around, so there is really no reason why I should buy the pre-made stuff. I also love making homemade bread. I have a breadmaker machine that has come in very handy with preparing the bread dough for me. I would have to say making our meals from scratch has proven to be better for our budget and our health than buying boxed meals or other quick meals.

Here is the recipe I use to make HOMEMADE PANCAKE MIX:
1cup flour2 tablespoons sugar (I usually increase this to 4 tablespoons)2 eggs1cup milk4 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon salt

It is important that we still try to find some good ways to cook for our family even if we are trying to tighten our budget. Preparing delicious and nutritious food from low prices grocery items is a hard task but we can still find some good ways to do so. Take a look at some good recipes online. There would surely be some that you would like to prepare for your family.

You want to live frugal, but you put stuff like this in your mouths:

pancake

muffin

lots

flour

sugar

baking

Not a bit of that is good for you and it's all bad for you. A spoonful of anything that is not health building, is not frugal.
